Generate Names automatically finds and assigns names to selected glyphs whose Unicode codepoints are in FontLab’s name-Unicode database. This operation is the opposite of the one described in the Generate Unicodes section. You can select glyph cells in the Font window and choose Font > Generate Names to run this operation. If no glyphs are selected, then the operation will be applied to the entire font. Note that if more than one name is linked to the Unicode codepoint, the first name in the database will be assigned. FontLab will also try to keep the names of any glyphs without Unicode codepoints unchanged. “Generate Names” is not undoable, so use the operation carefully.
